Oooo Err Mrs - Management Resources Solutions picks up A$3.6m claim - wipeout?

Those who took part in the 5p £3.5 million placing in Management Resource Solutions (MRS) in April could today sell at a loss of 50% after news came in that the company faces a potential wipe-out event - a A$3.6 million legal claim. Oh dear. At least we long term bears can raise a smile. TW 7 BB Morons nil. Once again those who thought they knew better did not....

Tom Winnifrith Bearcast 9 January: In denial, Paul Scott, Quindell & China nutters

I deal with three sorts of folks who are in denial. Quindell (QPP)/Watchstone (WTG) owning BB nutters who still insist that Rob Terry may be innocent and I may be guilty, Paul Scott who sees value in retail stocks and the China nutters who cannot accept that what is going on is more than a little blip. Once again I warn that this podcast contains strong language.

Back at 2 AM from spending time at Islington Police Station

Nope, the BB morons have no reason to celebrate. I was not assisting the Old Bill with their enquiries. Nor was I being questioned for revealing who was shagging who in the Downing Street Affair. Instead…. Well it is a long story but it started mid-afternoon. I am starting to worry that I am not a complete bastard after all and can actually be a good guy on occasion. I may have to seek counselling from someone really bad and immoral. Where’s Colourful James when you need him most?

Mid-afternoon two ladies from Informa popped in to Real Man Pizza Company seeking prizes from local businesses for a charity raffle. Since I only support one charity (Woodlarks) my standard answer to such requests is No! But I found myself offering a prize of a meal for four. I clearly was on a slippery slope towards virtue.

And so after an evening of being exceptionally nice to everyone, sending staff home early so I could tend to the last few customers (two of whom hung around forever) I sat down fully intending to spend the whole night writing. But at midnight I heard the sound of banging on the shutters. I peered out and there was an Indian bird in obvious distress.  So I opened the door and through the shutter she said she needed to find a church to pray at, a priest to speak to and that the Catholic Church would put her up for the night as she was homeless but needed directions. Hmmm “We are a catholic restaurant hang on while I get an A-Z”

Before I knew it she was sitting inside Real Man and had made me turn off my music (AC DC by Joan Jett was playing at the time) and from my laptop she was playing her favourite hymn. She then explained

Deluded Bulletin Board Moron of the Year – This could be a winner from the ADVFN Sefton board

Some posters on Bulletin Boards are so thick they would make the contestants on I’m a celebrity seem like a bunch of Nobel Prize winning economists. A company is obviously bust yet some buffoon manages to find reasons why its shares are cheap. Conspiracy theories abound. Amid the mind numbing stupidity you find the odd gem. Trying to pick out the BB moron of the year is an almost impossible task but here is a contender.

JJB Sports going to 0p – how much clearer can this be?

I warned you all on September 6th that JJB Sports (JJB) was worth 0p a share as when its assets are sold it is unlikely that the proceeds will cover its debts let alone the hefty fees of KPMG etc. I said that anyone who bought was a loon. Predictably the loons berated me. But how much clearer can this get. At 0.28p you should still sell for whatever you can get. This stock is utterly worthless.

The response of the BB loons was a hoot:

The Love that Dares to Speak its name all the bloody time

This twitter thing is getting all the more entertaining. It is not just the quantity of folks who follow you but who is following you that interests me. I am still not sure that I have tweeted anything of interest to the potato girls (the tweeters from the British potato council) but I am working on an idea of how I can combine the preparation of spuds with the issue of man made climate change. Is it greener to boil or roast? Will I save the poor polar bears if I recycle my boiling water to wash my socks? These are great questions and in the interests of saving the planet I shall turn my mind to them in due course. Meanwhile the potato girls and others will have to make do with my thoughts on other matters. But I now have one Tory MP following me (I have never heard of him but he is obviously a very switched on fellow) and two Master Investor speakers (M Slater and – as of today – J Mellon). I shall try to come up with something entertaining for both of them. I fear that I am beginning to become a bit of a tweet addict.

Meanwhile, those who are reading this piece hoping for a diatribe about homosexuality will be disappointed. The love I refer to is the love that certain private investors, who spend their lives on Bulletin Boards, feel for certain stocks. These chaps tend not to be promiscuous but monogamous and faithful to the last.

Shut up your bashes!

I am used to getting hostile comment when I post an internet article which says anything other than buy. If you pour slavish praise on a stock ( however crap it is) you will have praise heaped upon you. Until it goes belly up at which point you are a total loser. But if you dare to suggest that a stock is overvalued you just get abuse. I feel I must bring you some abuse I got today from America.

The article is the one I published earlier on Trina Solar. I am delighted to see that this $320 million capitalised stock has lost 6% today on the back of the piece – there is a link to it lower down on this page. The piece points out that the company’s balance sheet is a train wreck and that it is losing money hand over fist and as such the stock is not worth very much given that industry fundamentals get worse by the day. But I appear to have made two errors.

Firstly I expressed my personal view that global warming was bogus. That attracted the usual stream of abuse from those who adopted an almost religious fervour in suggesting that I was mad.
